Notes to accompany Uni_Trac release version 4.0.S

The IC-910, IC-821, and Kenwood TS2000 interfaces have been completely revised.

All 3 interfaces are identical in concept and the final operating modes
the rigs may be used in are detailed below.

The operating modes are

1: Standalone rig in full duplex Satellite Mode (default Uni_Trac method)

2: Standalone rig in "Normal" configuration. Where the Satellite Mode is turned OFF.
The uplink frequency appears in the Main, with the downlink in the SUB
( A Control Panel indication will show that this mode has been selected

3. Any of the above rigs used as an uplink unit only. The required frequency and mode
    appearing in the Main

4. Any of the above rigs used as a downlink unit only. The required frequency and mode
    appearing in the Main

5. Standalone rig used in same frequency band, split mode, for use with ISS and similar
    satellites

IC-910 and TS2000
Automatic CTCSS tone frequency selection and tone ON/OFF switching are provided.

The ICOM rigs above have a pre initialization routine that reads back the frequency in the
Main or Sub to establish if further initialization can proceed. It is impossible for Uni_Trac
to initialize the Main to 2 Meters if 2 Meters is already in the SUB or vice versa.
The pre initialization routine does a Main/Sub toggle if this is the case then continues
 with the standard initilization.
A slightly different method is used with the TS2000

The satellite configuration page now has two additional entries.

Satellite/Normal Entry. (IC-910, IC-821, TS2000)
Set this to Normal if you want to work in the traditional Icom/Kenwood manner.
i.e. The transmitting frequency in the Main with the Satellite Mode turned off.
A Control Panel indication will show if Normal is selected.
  The default entry is Satellite.

IC-910 Only. Pre Amps
Set this to 1 to activate the automatic selection of mast head pre amps.
(Pre amps that are supplied with DC voltage up the coaxial feeder line)
The default entry is 0

The Uni_Trac Control Panel has been changed.

Above the Main Configuration label there are 3 indicators.
These indicators ONLY appear if any of CTCSS, Normal, and Pre Amp
functions are called for activation in the satellite configuration page.
If none of the above functions are called then the space is blank.
(Note: There is no indication of the default satellite mode)

ISS Type Operation

The Icom rigs above have a somewhat complex switching routine when
a doppler frequency update of the transmitter is required in this mode of operation.

For voice contacts it is suggested that the Up Date Uplink Radio entry
be set to 3000. Leave the Up Date Downlink Radio entry at its default
value. Occassionally during the QSO, double click the BLUE updating
LED on the Control panel to update the transmitter

For other digital modes, experimentation will be required to determine the
values of the two updating gates. It is expected however that the Up Date
Uplink Radio entry will be MUCH larger than the downlink entry.

Timing routines have been extended to cope with computer microprocessors
running at 3 GHz or more.

Automatic fall back to terrestrial settings after Uni_Trac closes can now be achieved
by setting up a memory channel with the desired terrestrial parameters.
Enter the memory channel number into the Main Configuration page.
(The routines associated with the above rigs have been revised)

I acknowledge Reg Wood, VK2RW for Icom IC-821 and IC-910 beta testing.

DONT FORGET TO RENAME YOUR PRESENT unitrac3.exe TO unitrac3.old
BEFORE INSTALLING THIS VERSION
